Five days...
...until my first African adventure! As you can see to the right, I'm brushing up on the most important Kiswahili phrases and getting all of the most important vaccinations. Other than the Great White sharks that run (swim) rampant along the eastern coast of Africa, I think I'm pretty much immune to any harm that I could possibly encounter in Tanzania. Thanks so much for all of the love and excitement that people have been sending me. I'll use this blog to tell you about every African happening, be it exhilirating or exhausting. I better go practice my Swahili!

I want to know why "none of the above" isn't one of the choices for which disease you will come home with...I'm lobbying for a write in choice!
i would've voted for Jungle Love had it been an option, but i guess you don't care as much about steve miller as i thought you did.
Greetings from Marekani (I'm really picking up this kiswahili).
I think the most likely diseases are an occasional mild bout of homesickness and the dreaded "pruny fingertip" from too much snorkeling.
I find it amusing that the town on Mafia Island is Kilindoni. Is that Swahili for kill the don?
Less than 48 hours to go 'til you go!
Hi Anna
Hope your journey was uneventful after leaving New York and that you arrived safely. I voted for "all of the above" but with all your precautions I hope it is "none of the above" so you can enjoy your adventure. Looking forward to reading your blog.
